Ellie Herring for Rain Damage.
I was thinking today about when I met Ellie for the first time, and forgot it was like 7 years ago. My sister Stacia had been doing her hair and suggested we meet, it was Rincon Mexicano in the Chevy Chase area of Lexington. I knew she had amazing design skills and at the time I hadn't really discovered art or even given House Fire a thought yet but I was sippin hard on the Hunter S Thompson Kentucky journalism tea and wanted to start a magazine. I even bought a how to book from Amazon, but much like the plans of mice and men it didn't quiet evolve. Ellie was nice enough to listen to my bullshit that day and from then on I have considered her not only a friend but someone I can always lean on for creative advice.
Fast forward through trips up the east coast and the long conversations at Tolly Ho's with Ellie and her wife Amber and into last month. Because I have the technological proficiency of a 90 year old grandma, I text Ellie about 3 days a week for website advice for Rain Damage, this time around she suggested we do a t-shirt collab for her new song Judge (available April 27th). While computers might not be my thing, t-shirts I can do so I jumped at the opportunity.
I think this is how collabs are meant to go down. I've done work with a lot of other artist and has never seemed this easy and free flowing, she has shot a lot of ideas over to me and we eventually settled on one and got to work.
So first off, April 27th go listen to Judge by Ellie Herring, second on April 26th check out Raindamageskate.com or our brick and mortar shop at 123 West 6th St in Lexington Ky and pick up the limited edition shirt that Ellie designed. I expect these to go fast.
